What services do OC Homecare caregivers provide?

Our caregivers offer a wide range of non-medical support to help clients with daily living activities in the comfort of their own homes. This includes personal care, companionship, specialized care, respite care, and end-of-life support.

How do I apply to become a caregiver?

Once we receive your application, we’ll reach out for a preliminary phone screening and schedule an in-person appointment to begin the hiring process.

Do you offer benefits to caregivers?

Do you provide training for caregivers?

Absolutely! After passing the screening, interviews, and requirements, you will:
  • Attend an Orientation before your first client assignment
  • Receive Annual Refresher Training to stay updated on caregiving best practices

Do I need to submit vaccination records?

No, vaccination records are not required. However, we recommend keeping your vaccinations up to date for your own health and the safety of those around you.

Do I need to own a vehicle?

No, owning a vehicle is not required. However, you will be responsible for finding transportation to your client’s location.

How do I obtain a Home Care Aide (HCA) ID?

An HCA ID is a state-recognized certification for caregivers. You can:
  • Apply through the California Department of Social Services
  • Let OC Homecare assist you in obtaining your HCA ID


You will need to provide:
  • A state-issued ID
  • Live Scan/fingerprint results

Is a First Aid/CPR certificate required?

Yes! Caregivers must be trained in First Aid and CPR to handle emergencies.
  • Certification must be active and renewed every two years.
  • Your certificate will have a unique ID number registered with the National CPR Foundation.

Where can I get a First Aid/CPR certificate?

There are many in-person and online options available. Choose a reputable training provider that offers a registered certificate with a verifiable ID number.

Where can I get a Live Scan (fingerprint scan)?

A Live Scan is a background check required for all caregivers. OC Homecare will guide you to the nearest Department of Social Services-approved agency to complete this process.

Does a Live Scan automatically give me an HCA ID?

No. The Live Scan only submits your fingerprints for background screening. You must still apply separately for your Home Care Aide (HCA) ID.

I had a Live Scan before. Is it still valid?

If you previously completed a Live Scan, you can:
  • Certification must be active and renewed every two years.
  • Your certificate will have a unique ID number registered with the National CPR Foundation.

  • Valid Identification (Driver’s License, Passport, or State ID)
  • Live Scan/Fingerprint Results or Active HCA ID
  • TB Test or Chest X-ray Results (within the past year)
  • Active CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Social Security Card & Work Authorization/Permanent Resident Card (if applicable)
  • Vaccination Records (Optional but recommended)
